Squash
Played my first game of Squash today with Keir(of gla comp sci fame) and it was great! I played a lot of badminton when I was younger so at first I was pathetic at hitting the ball but by the end I was getting the hang of it. I’m definitely going to play again soon. Quite worried about losing weight with the amount of cardio I’m doing but trying to eat more (good) food.
We’re making a little bit of progress with the team project now that everyone is back in university and not hiding wherever they hide during the holidays (one guy escaped to Sweden!). I’ve got stuck with Socket/networking sections which I’m not exactly thrilled with but at least I’m learning something new. Feeling more motivated about university again but still liking the idea of leaving to start something fresh.
If I do stay for 4th year I plan on doing these courses..
Design & Evaluation of Multimedia Systems 4
Computer Science in the Classroom
Digital Image Processing M (DIPM)
HCI Issues and Distributed Systems 4
There’s room for change there but I won’t be doing the hardcore boring (imo) modules like “Compilers 4” or “Computer Architecture 4”. Maybe networking if I enjoy the course this year.
I’m now going to bed to read the first two chapters of Operating System Concepts before my first OS3 class tomorrow. It has dinosaurs listening to mp3 players on the front cover but I just know that’s to fool you into thinking the inside is interesting.
